By Land
From San Francisco, cross the Golden Gate bridge and exit at Alexander Avenue at the end of the bridge. Follow Alexander Ave. as it turns into Bridgeway and travels through Sausalito.
From the north, take the Sausalito exit, turn left under the freeway, and then right onto Bridgeway.
By Sea
The ferry provides service 10 times daily (7 times on weekends and holidays) to the Ferry Building at foot of Market Street in San Francisco. You can transfer to or from ferries to all parts of the bay from the Ferry Building.
Given the expansive scope of its marinas and waterfront, Sausalito has surprisingly few facilities for visitors who arrive in their own boats. Most of the marinas have some guest slips, but they are often occupied. Calling in advance is essential; see the Marinas listing. Many marinas monitor Channel 16, but a phone call is more likely to be successful.
Anchoring Out at Sausalito
If you anchor out, there are few places to land your dinghy. Most marinas are private and will not welcome you and your dinghy.
The city’s public dinghy dock, which is just south of Sausalito Marine Harbor, is small and crowded. The sign says "15 minute limit" but most boats are there for far longer than that.
If you’re prepared for a beach landing, you can use the beach at FILL IN HERE.
The FILL IN HERE, south of the ferry landing, has a guest dock that can accommodate dinghies as well as larger craft.
See Sailing Directions for navigational information.
